Driving Seat
Hi Babe,
Thank you for your letter.
One thing is for sure — coming out of this year of lockdown and restrictions we all have a new outlook, perspective and, for some, new priorities. It sounds like all of the above have happened for you. I love a mantra and one of my absolute faves when assessing any work-related dilemma is ‘only be loyal to your passion, not a person or a brand/company or a place’.
Of course we feel gratitude when we work with great people and enjoy our environment but as we evolve and grow we often need change and that means leaving anything that no longer serves you. You have no reason to feel guilty about being furloughed and supported — grateful, yes, but not guilty.
Your energy must shift to a place of power now. You have some clarity about what you don’t want to do and you have experience to help you step into a new chapter. The sleepless nights is your subconscious making your conscious aware that something needs to change for your happiness and overall wellbeing.
Have you thought about what you would like to do next? You mentioned the lack of roles but, trust me, once you know what you want to do and you come from an empowered mindset, you will find it or it will find you. If you are already back to work, please be mindful to not suppress this need for change. I urge you to put your focus into what lights you up. Don’t get pulled back into the rat race, it is important that you reserve some of your energy and spark to ignite the passion inside you for you to discover your next chapter.
So start brainstorming, job searching with an open mind, update your CV, LinkedIn, personal summary. Allow yourself to visualise what your perfect working day would look and FEEL like. Overall, jump into the driving seat of your career and know that you have what it takes to take the wheel.
With love,
Malee
